n 312, Constantine had a vision of a cross in the sky and he adopted Christianity. It was one of the major turning points in all of history.

No one knows for sure where the vision took place. But the location at left is the only place with a continuing tradition claiming to be the site of the vision. We do know Constantine passed through here on his way to Rome. The inscription below the cross says (in German), "In this sign you will conquer. Good Christian, do not pass the spot without recognizing Jesus Christ our Redeemer. Praise be to Jesus Christ forever and ever. Amen."
