Why bring Christian history to children?
We at Christian History Institute feel a burden to provide positive role
models for today’s children. Frankly, we are quite concerned about
the values and “heroes” being fed to our children through
the popular media. Today’s children desperately need worthy and
true heroes who can guide them in new directions. As Christians we have
over 2,000 years of fantastic stores about humble heroes.
We seek to make those stories available to children and their guardians
for two reasons: First we hope to educate children about the history
of their faith and the heroes who lived it. As Christians, these are
our stories! If we don’t share them with the next generation,
who will? Our second goal is even more important. We desire to tell
stories in such a way as to compel children to live as more fully committed
followers of Christ. We believe these stories can be life-changing,
causing children to examine their own faith and to walk closer to the
Lord.
With those goals in mind, in 2003, we at Christian History Institute
expanded our ministry to include a more focused effort to bring Christian
history to children. Using our popular Glimpses
bulletin insert as a model, we began a new publication called Glimpses
for Kids or GFK for short. We are especially concerned for
those children ages 8-12. We hope that both GFK and the Chi4Kids website
will be tools you will enjoy using as you work to shape the young lives
entrusted to your care.
